Steinberg offers Cubase 5 now. The Sequencer includes many new Plug-ins, for example REVerence, Loop Match and Groove Agent. I ‘ve buy the update Version last week and I’ve install it yesterday.
Installation:
Pretty easy ;-). I’ve insert the first DVD and the installation runs automatically. All settings I’ve made in Cubase 4 were saved in Cubase 5, that means: all Plug-Ins, Settings and Libraries. Another nice feature is the Steinberg Sound Collection. All included Plug-Ins like Groove Agent get’s a hugh number of Samples. So, you are ready to start without any other drumprocessor like Battery. Last step is the activation and then you can start.
Cubase start’s
:
The Interface is smoother and more 3D like. Mixer and Information windows have the same Layout as you know in Cubase 4. Arrangement Window has more settingbuttons but it has the same layout.
REVerence:
The First new Plug In I’ve tested was REVerence. This is the first including impulse reverb. That means you have a Waveform which the reverbprocessor generates the reverb. The quality is very good and you have many possibilities to create a new Reverb Sound. For Example reverse play of the Waveform or stretching of the waveform.
So I will test today the next two Plug-Ins Loop Match and Groove Agent. The Third part will describe another nice tools like the melodine oriented Plug-In.

Last week I’ve updated my Cubase to Version 4.5. Now it is possible to control the virtual mixer with an advanced integration controller called Steinberg CC121. This little interface seems to help to bring more efficiency in your workflow. So I’ve buy the controller.
More information about the new Cubase Update you’ll finde under: Cubase Features
Installation is pretty easy via USB (Universal Serial Bus). So Cubase recognize the Interface automatically. My First impression is, that this Interface is high manufacturing. My workflow in Cubase is very easy to describe. In my first hand my mouse and second hand my keyboard
So the question is, what give us the controller to reduce working? The answer is very easy to give. Now you have the possibility to click one time in your Mixer View (F3) and the rest you can control with this interface. In addition you have the transport unit and you have a Jog Wheel to scroll in your arrangement view. It’s very nice the first time I use it in my projects.
My little conclusion, this interface is high manufacturing and bring more efficiency into our workflow. If you want a cheap variant of controllersystems for DAW’s then is this one, only for Cubase users, the first option. For those they don’t use Cubase, I think this Controller doesn’t work. That’s little crappy! But now steinberg starting integration of hardware and software with their own systems. So we take a look to Cubase 5

Today I received two new VST Plug-Ins. Rob Papen’s Blue and Predator. Rob Papen is known as one of the best Sound Designers and these two Synths were developed for special electronic Music.
My first impression is only “wow”. Very beautiful Sounds for PAD’s and Leads, strong bass sounds.
You’ll find more Information about this Plug In under http://www.robpapen.com.
